Tāne's Tree Trust: "Beyond the Canopy" conference, Nelson, 16–17 October
The Trust held its 2026 conference last week with a programme explicitly built around transition forestry, assisted natural regeneration, seed islands, and emerging restoration techniques — the exact language and methods this venture works on. Ten speakers, Q&A chaired by Dr Erik van Eyndhoven of The Nature Conservancy Aotearoa New Zealand, and a Day 2 field trip. If you work on exotic-to-native transitions in New Zealand and you didn't make it to Nelson, this is the week's single most important piece of professional-development material. Conference page.
